
Hypertension Control Champion
Earners of this badge have demonstrated an understanding of hypertension/high blood pressure, and are able to share this knowledge with family members and their community. Specifically, participants are able to explain the health consequences from hypertension and to describe activities to lower blood pressure; including eating and drinking habits, physical activity, and stress reduction. Earners have also demonstrated the ability to discuss the importance of taking high blood pressure medications within the framework of primary care.
Participants have completed 6 weekly modules about hypertension, with each module lasting about 1 hour. Themes include: What is Hypertension?, Healthy Eating, Exercise is Medicine, Coping with Stress and Smoking, Taking My Medicine, and Talking to a Doctor.
